Some people wait their whole life for the perfect storm to come along. For Vonn Kiss it has always been inside him. With genuine grit, hard work and a lightning-like passion, Vonn is taking his music career to the next level. What started off as a hobby, singing in a small church on Sundays in Blue Ash, Ohio as a boy, grew into a blinding vision that created a musically-minded man. For Vonn Kiss it is simple. It has been and always will be about the music. Vonn lets fans into the rare history that is encrypted underneath each lyric by revealing parts of his past, through a story that is just beginning.

Though music is undeniably what sets the scene, Vonn always had a knack for baseball. Being told at a young age that he wasn't big enough or strong enough to play pro- baseball generated the “never say never” attitude that Vonn Kiss portrays throughout his career as a singer/songwriter. He never bought into the notion of denial but rather fought harder for this dream. It is disbelief from others that fueled a fire that burned through him like kerosene. This relentless drive is what carried him from little league to signing a professional baseball contract with the Cincinnati Reds at the ripe age of eighteen. Shortly after signing, Vonn experienced a sports related injury that would change his plans forever. In the midst of trying to find his path, figure out fatherhood, demolish inner demons and push through complications with his injury, fate dealt Vonn a sweet hand.

As if by divine intervention, Vonn came across an old guitar with only five strings at a pawn shop in Billings, Montana.

He gravitated instantly towards the instrument and it was as if the guitar found him; a highly anticipated reunion with an old friend. This was extremely reminiscent and brought back fond memories of listening to his great grandpa play a five string banjo in the hollers of Kentucky. It threw him right back into the good ole days as a child in his uncle's humble honky-tonk, “The Silver Fox” in Greenville, South Carolina. Vonn recalled playing basketball in the back of the honky-tonk with Hank Jr. and riding the tour bus around the country with his uncle, Helen Cornelius, Jim Ed Brown and other musical legends; just longing for the stage and dreaming of doing what the greats did.

He was the dark horse in the race that died on the track but is reborn through his songs. His fire was relit, his purpose as a son, grandson and most importantly a father was found. He was suddenly a little boy again, turning what once was a distant dream into reality. This was no longer a small town ball field he’d imagined conquering. This field painted his life and he was soon on his way to hitting home runs left and right.

Vonn Kiss began touring with musical mentor and country pioneer David Allan Coe, witnessing the vast countryside from the gleam of a bus window. It seemed that they would run out of road after a while, but it just kept on going. Vonn Kiss played shows across the country alongside Coe and other iconic performers while also playing shows of his own. Vonn had finally found the place that he was always meant to be...in the footlights.

In his songs, Vonn pays respects to the classics but has never set out to learn someone else’s songs; he uses the creation of his own music as therapy. 

The voice that we all have in the back of our minds speaks to Vonn exclusively through lyrics. The content of his songs are generated from a place of great depth that is unable to be expressed through any other medium. In these songs you will feel pain and conviction while Vonn Kiss tells passion packed personal stories of one man verses the world.

His latest single “Everybody Knows My Name” was released on June 28th, 2024. Having the distinctive pleasure of working alongside record producer/engineer Greg Archilla, who has worked with Grammy nominated artists such as Matchbox 20, Neil Young and other world renowned acts, truly helped reset the tone in Vonn’s upcoming album “Chasin’ Ghosts” that is being crafted for a later release in 2024. The Vonn Kiss family continues to grow as fans from around the world join in on the classic country adventure that is, Vonn Kiss & The Dark Horses.

“This biography hasn’t really been written. The story hasn’t been told yet. It’s the people and the fans that decide how this story ends. At the end of the day it’s what the fans perceive, love and hate that determines where this story goes. Each and everyday it’s a new line, new paragraph, new chapter and new page. One day there will be a storybook ending and right now it’s too early to tell. Till then we’re gonna take this ride and see where it ends, but we’re damn sure gonna give it hell.” -VK-
